Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU) was established in 1918 and is one of the oldest, most reputed medical universities in Georgia. On June 17, 1918, the Faculty of Medicine was established as part of Tbilisi State University — the first university in the Caucasus region. In 1930, the medical faculty branched out to form the Tbilisi State Medical Institute, and on November 24, 1992, it was transformed into Tbilisi State Medical University.
Today, the university is managed by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and is recognised for its transparent management, democratic governance, academic freedom, and outstanding medical education standards. With students from over 84 countries, TSMU has become a truly global hub for medical education.
